We pulled into the trailhead just after dawn, and the parking lot was nearly empty—just us and one other car. That’s a rare gift at Mossy Cave! By mid-morning and especially at golden hour, the parking situation can get packed, and it’s not uncommon to circle for a while before finding a spot. Starting at sunrise meant we had the place practically to ourselves, and it set the stage for such an intimate, relaxed session.

The morning light at Mossy Cave was absolutely stellar—soft, golden, and wrapping around the canyon walls like a natural spotlight. A & C kicked off their shoes and waded barefoot through the creek, laughing and holding onto each other as the cool water ran over the rocks.
They sprawled out on the warm sandstone, completely at ease, and later stood hand-in-hand, gazing up at the towering hoodoos glowing in the sunrise. What I loved most was how naturally they connected with each other in this space—no over-posing, just real moments that told their story.
